The 2018 Robert M. Hatcher Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Eliot Berz, a graduate student at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Eliot Berz is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and also works as the Avian Technician for the Tennessee River Gorge Trust in Chattanooga. Eliot is focused on evaluating the migratory pathways and stop over locations of the Louisiana Waterthrush and Worm-eating Warbler. He has received his BS degree from the University of the South at Sewanee in Environmental Science and Economics.


Eliot has a deep interest in avian research and conservation. He aspires to continue working in the conservation field to help protect avian habitat, educate the public, and make informed conservation decisions. He hopes to one day serve in a leadership role and participate in the greater effort to ensure we conserve our Earth’s incredible resources.
